Genesis 24:10-28 – Success!

Eliezer sets a good example of a faithful and godly servant. He is diligent to do immediately what Abraham asks. He knows that God is guiding his way, and he prays for God’s help when he reaches his destination.

Eliezer prays for success. We should ask God to bless our work with success. He reminds God of His covenant with Abraham. We can remind God of the promises He makes to us. He asks God to give him a sign. He knows a good wife is from the Lord, and he wants his master’s wife to be humble, hard-working, and kind to strangers. Eliezer wants God to make the right woman abundantly clear. We should ask God to make our paths abundantly clear.

God answers Eliezer’s prayers quickly and satisfactorily – giving him what he asks for in the very first woman that comes to draw water. She meets all of Eliezer’s qualifications. Rebekah, by her kindness and willingness to help, is now brought to the attention of Eliezer as the one he is seeking.

Eliezer gives Rebekah many presents and then turns in thankfulness to God. He worships God for granting his request and guiding him to Rebekah.
